Bank vole in Chernobyl

My first major graphic design project carried out in Adobe Illustrator in October of 2020. It was made as a Ph.D. graduation gift to a researcher whose main study species was a bank vole in the areas contaminated by radiation. Therefore, the bank vole is portrayed with the Finnish Ph.D. graduation sword and hat. Since one of the main study sites was the Chernobyl exclusion zone – a silhouette of the Chernobyl power plant is in the background.  And since his research is on gut microbiome this important detail is present in the composition as well – a pile of vole poop.

Proposed logo for the Evolutionary Genomics Research Group of the University of Jyväskylä

While creating photographic content for the webpage of this research group I also created a logo that would represent the main research objects of the group.

The elements of the logo: DNA, bank vole, tick, microbiome, and natural, urban, and the industrial environment with mention of the Chernobyl exclusion zone represented by the chimney of the nuclear powerplant.

A commemorative medal “Dinaburg 1812”

The design of a commemorative medal for the participants of the re-enactment festival was based on my sketch, that I drew in 2018.
With some tweaks and adjustments of the sketch by the company that designs and produces medals, a final medal design was made in 2019 for the re-enactment festival “Dinaburg 1812” in Daugavpils Fortress.

Wire craft

One of my hobbies is wire craft. When I have free time and inspiration, I can get caught up in the creative process and built interesting stuff – see below 🙂

BTW, I have held a wire craft workshop in Kulttuurivoimala – Culture Power Station ry in Oulu, Finland and in Gloria in Jyvaskyla, Finland.

I have always liked drawing although I haven’t gone to any kind of special drawing classes accept for school, so those drawings can appear unprofessional, but I personally like them.

Here I tried to draw a reconstruction of a reduite in Daugavpils Fortress, Latvia.
