Fortified Ideal City, the world’s last built bastion fortress. This fortress is based on Italian idea, designed according to French school of fortifications, built by Russian Empire consulting German military engineers located in Daugavpils, Latvia.

It is a city within a city – carefully planned star shaped citadel, built to protect against Napoleon’s army. It guarded the only road from Europe to the capital of Russian Empire – Saint Petersburg in the 19th century and was frequently visited by four Emperors of Russia.
